Research of artifacts crafted in bone led to experimentation with the material through the use of modern technology. Animal bone, a byproduct of the meat industry is rarely used in consumer goods today. I created a set of four knives, two with stainless steel blades and two with bone blades. The bones were processed with modern technology like CNC milling and the joinery and ornamentation of the of knifes is inspired by archaeological findings of bone objects in the past 500 years. The final products of the project included a set of knifes which were exhibited in Bezalel’s Thinking Hands exhibition in Milan 2011.
